Meet the Team!
Andrea Pafford is a Person-Centred Counsellor based in Cornwall, and she joins us here at Highgrove on Tuesdays.
Andrea is now taking bookings for appointments. You will need to book a free 30-minute telephone consultation first. Full details and a link to book can be found here.
In the meantime, here is a little more about Andrea and the Person-Centred Counselling approach:
After 25 years of an enjoyable, but stressful, career in teaching and management in a 6th Form College, Andrea had the opportunity to retrain as a Person-Centred Counsellor.
Andrea chose the Person-Centred approach, as it puts the person at the centre of the work. She doesn’t tell you what to do or give solutions. You work together to help you understand and find a way forward.
Over the years, Andrea’s approach developed to meet the varied needs of her clients. By integrating other approaches and techniques it can enable more understanding of certain thoughts and behaviours, e.g. working with breathing and relaxation techniques, journal writing, art materials, stone work, when words are difficult. This is always discussed with clients so they can decide what feels right for them.
Since qualifying, Andrea works with clients in all walks of life. Some examples of client work include working through Bereavement, Addiction, Anxiety, Depression, Bullying, Trauma and PTSD, to name a few.
Andrea currently works for Clear Links for university students who need support for their mental health and have additional needs such as Aspergers and ADHD. She also volunteers to counsel NHS staff whose mental health has been affected by their work during Covid.
